Installing DVD Player in Quicksilver 733

So I am hoping to get a DVD player (no idea what brand) for christmas to install into my Quicksilver 733. I am either going to remove my CD-RW and install it into a Firewire case or put the DVD player into the case.

Now, as far as I know, all I have to do is reinstall OS X so that it will see the drive and it will install the DVD drivers and players. Has anyone else done this for X? Which drive do you suggest I put in the case? The CD-RW? The DVD?

I am hoping that this will go off without a hitch. I guess time will tell. I could always go to the Apple Store and chat with Mac Genius about it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
