DVD Screen Shootin

Anyone know of a program for X , that will allow me to capture still shots from my DVDs? or even an app that allows you to take screen shots while the DVD player is open, OS X wont allow you to.

I think this should work

Download VideoLAN client from versiontracker.com and it plays DVD's. I am pretty sure you can just use the screen capture function like usual when the DVD is playing.

In fact, it does work, I just did it.

Here is a shot from the Ocean's Eleven DVD.

Sorry

Can't attach a file in Navigator, but here is the screenshot.

One interesting note, the movie must be paused or else it looks like the picture was moving, I guess because there were more fps in the movie than the fraction of a second Mac OS X used to take the screenshot. Just pause it and use that pic. It worked for me.

Snapz Pro X can cature still shots from the DVD player if you have an Nvidia chip.

anyone care to explain?

i always thought this was a legal issue. now it sounds more technical to me...so does anyone know why it doesn't work with grab or shift command 3? and why nvidia chips would make it happen.

sorry for bad grammar. trying to just spit it out i guess

I've been using Snapz Pro X to take DVD stills and make a series of Mac OS X icons based on the View Askewniverse.
