Replacing the Finder

I had never thought of it until today but has anyone used progrmas that basically replace the finder. Like Path Finder.

I was just wondering if they were any good, if you liked them, and so fourth. There are a few things about the finder that bug me. No labels and some slowness in areas that i use most.

Thanks for any input.

I use Path Finder occasionally, and it's mostly great. I don't like the way stuff on the desktop is organised, though, but that's a matter of opinion. The features it offers are great and the developer really listens to feedback. The only problems with it are related to usability, which presumably arise from the fact that there is only one developer. It just doesn't seem as easy as the Finder.

I definately recommend trying it out, though!

Labels X

Twister,

Don't forget Labels X, a shareware add-on that provides labels throughout the Finder. Works over network volumes, external drives, but NOT thru dialog windows (open/save/etc.). Still, for $7, labels are back in OS X. Which makes me wonder, why the hell they aren't in the OS as default.

Finder crashes when browsing a network volume with 4000 mp3 files, every time.

Path Finder does not crash. (But takes 5 minutes to list the contents)
