I want DVB-H when the iPhone is launched in Switzerland

Next summer, TV will be available on cell phones in Switzerland using DVB-H system (as it is successfully made in Italy, and without success in UK). The excellent screen of the iPhone will make it the best viewer !

Apple's not a fan of such things. They want you to buy stuff on iTunes instead. I don't see Apple going into DVB-H at all.

Fryke, you are probably right (as usual). But if DVB-H really starts (and not only for football), then I think iPhone penetration may be limited in Europe as its big screen will not have so much material to show. Same problem as Apple TV. Both will probably have the same end: supporting broadcast formats too.

Theoretically, zattoo could support the iPhone through either a little app or a website with restricted access.

well, currently, apple doesn't allow _any_ real 3rd party apps anymore. obviously, iPhone v1.1.1 has bricked many phones (with or without 3rd party apps installed...), so I'd say Apple's only letting users have web 2.0 apps - if even that.

Grrr... Anyone else remember Steve Jobs claiming the iPhone "has real desktop applications compared to other smartphones' mini-apps"? Steve: Shuddup an' deliver.
