| LowEndMac.com - Financial Woes Well, Dan Knight over at LowEndMac is telling the tale of his financial woes. I feel for Dan, I relate, but at the same time I wonder why he doesn't have a day job? I mean, I do. I don't expect macosx.com to finance my salary. If that was the case, I'd be living in a box and nothing would be left to run macosx.com. My advice to Dan. Get a job, a full-time job. Use the extra monies earned from the site and donations to cover your existing debt generated from the site, and then start saving up the money for a rainy day. Now, in retrospect... if you would have kept your day job, you'd gain some valuable Windows support experience, you could have have used the monies from the site for a new car, a nice down payment on a house, or whatever else. But, what has been, you can't change. From this day forward, you could stop the downward spiral. The Mac community might bail you out this round, but you need to change your thinking for the next round. What we raise in email accounts and donations around here is 90% less than Dan was making at his old IS job. He should be so thankful to bring in $2500.00/month. That is a nice second job. Scott |

| My (little) contribution to the topic: It is very difficult to make money by selling low-end. Some succeed and get tremendously rich, most don't. I fully agree with Scott: if you don't get enough from your web site to survive, get a full time job and keep your web site as a second job. Maybe with time other web sites will die, and you will again get enough from your advertisement.

| Unless you're Jeff Bezos, you shouldn't expect to make a living from a web site. Dan should ask for full-time hours at his job or find another part-time job to help cover his expenses and feed his family. Scott, you have the time to post this but not fix a few IMG tags? What's going on with you?
