Cherry OS in 3 Days

Do you think they will make their Nov 25 (Thanksgiving in USA) deadline? Seems odd to launch it on a holiday.

Only time will tell. I'm expecting a timely release with lackluster performance. Maybe some obfuscation of the code to detatch it from whomever they stole it from. I'd love to be surprised, though.

These CherryOS guys aren't from the US, so I'm sure November 25th is just another day to them. Kind of like 4th of July in England.

From what I remember, they're Norwegian or something. Definitely not Hawaiian, although they have a company based out of Hawaii, as per the link below. I remember a video of the proprietor of this software and he's definitely not Hawaiian -- got a thick Norwegian or Swiss or something accent.

They won't come through on the release. CherryOS was by a Hawiian company with a somewhat lackluster video server application, and was intended only as a traffic-test for their video-streaming software. The site was designed to fool people into visiting and watching the demonstration videos (hence the reason the site had 6 video clips demonstrating use, but not a single bit of information otherwise).

In review, the CherryOS site had falsified quotes from fake business names, had definitely used modified PearPC code to create their video clips, and their video product site has even quoted the CherryOS event as a test of their software (which is pretty stupid, considering their software crashed miserably once the Mac/Slash crowds started to converge on it).

I think we won't see much. Maybe they'll even try to pull the same thing off over again? Probably will set a new release date and have a store ready, so now you can actually give them _money_ to get nothing...

But, me too, I would love to be surprised. Just imagine: Mac OS X running at insanely great speed on X86 hardware... Would give Steve Jobs quite a bit to think about. Then open source the thing and spread it as wide as possible before Apple can react with lawyers... Maybe _then_ we'd finally see Apple release Mac OS X and iLife for X86 (or at least X86-64). Well. One can dream. But again: I think it'll be a non-show, really. And please: Do _not_ give these guys any money until you had the chance to try the actual software...

Um. are you forgetting? You still need to have windows to run the app, which cancels any stability you might have.
