| I thought I'd share my two days of frustration trying to fix a synchronization problem with my iPod. I finally found "the guy" at Apple who knew the answer. Here's the 411. Problem: When "synching" your music library in iTunes 2.x in OS 10.1, you get the following error: There was a problem copying to disk "" : An unknown error occured (-39). The problem is that your Mac OS X system disk MUST be in HFS+ format to work properly with the iPod. For some unknown reason (bad design) the iPod cannot synchronize from a non-HFS+ disk such as the Unix File System (UFS) which I was originally using. Solution: Backup your system and re-install the OS, this time on a HFS+ partition. It's a bit of a pain but my system actually runs faster especially after installing software the "optimization" step is much much faster now -- weird. I hope this info helps someone! -Kevin |
