Careful which burner you buy! (Retrospect)

Hi, all. I have a CD Cyclone 24x firewire CD burner. Works great when it works, but... it does NOT work with Retrospect and apparently never will.

I talked to the folks at Cyclone, and they told me that they have NO PLANS to talk to Dantz about ever making any of their products compatible. They even said they don't know why one of their USB burners is compatible.

I asked and made them double-check, and they said they have no interest in making their drive compatible with Retrospect and do not even want to call Dantz.

Lesson learned #1: avoid cheapo manufacturers like CD Cyclone!

Lesson learned #2: Check with Dantz before buying! http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCRE...atibility_list

If you already have a Cyclone or Revo, I'd suggest calling them at 714-247-0099 and telling them what you think of this. Don't bother sending an e-mail, because they ignored the ones I sent them. But if you're interested, here's their full contact info. http://www.cdcyclone.com/company_main.html

P.S. Anyone wanna buy a 24x CD burner?

Another good place to always check before buying a burner (or any other drive, for that matter) is www.xlr8yourmac.com

There is a searchable database of drives and their compatability with Macs.
