Anyone use cocktail for their ipod backup?

I'm thinking of using Cocktail to show me theinvisible files and make a complete backup of my ipod.

Do any of you know if for example I loose my ipod or it crashes, I will be able to simply grab the backup I've done using cocktail and drag it onto a fresh new ipod and it will still retain all playlists etc, etc?
