Battery Lights On Powerbook Pismo

Hi. I have a PowerBook G3 Pismo, with a battery that holds a nice healthy charge. However, the battery indicator LEDs don't turn off. Even if I remove it from the computer, they continue to stay on. Any suggestions?

on my powerbook wallstreet the first battery lite flashes but the battery hold a complete charge (2:30-3:30).
