| DVD/CD disappeared I have a PowerPC G4, OS X 10.3.4. Everything was grand, until I tried burning a DVD-R of all my mp3's to free up some HD space. The write failed, with an 'unable to verify content' error (Toast) and after that the DVD drive wouldn't open. I would click the eject button and the eject icon would flash over the screen, but nothing would happen. So I rebooted, and after startup, I pressed the eject button with no results, nothing. I opened the DVD drive manually using the paper clip hole, and rebooted. Went into the system profiler, and my DVD drive is gone! I've never had to troubleshoot hardware on my mac before, in the two years I've owned it, and I don't even know where to begin..... help. thx in advance |

| ok, which g4 do you have? what dvd drive is it, and what speed media did you use? i know that if the wronge media was used in older drivers, it could fry the drive. it could also just be that the drive died all by its self at the same time.
