Question Switching Cameras

Greetings from New Zealand

I am wondering if anybody knows of or has come across a solution to my problem.

Which is:

I have 2 digital cameras connected up to my machine at the same time. A Sony video camera, and in Apple isight. My primary use for the video camera is for taking in analog video from my VCR which the video camera converts into digital and then into the Macintosh where I can work with it in applications such as imovie, final cut pro etc. I do this quite often as I have a number of people who would like to have their old VHS home videos, wedding video's put onto DVD.
My Apple isight was originally just an impulsive purchase and I have not used it very much at all. however, some friends and relatives have recently acquired web cams and we are all quite enthusiastic about doing some video conferencing. Also, I have recently gotten some applications for example; I Can Animate, Photo Booth, iStopMotion, that I would like to use with the Apple isight.

I have found that if both cameras are connected at the same time then the applications will only recognize the Sony video camera. For my particular situation it is not feasible or easy to use the Sony video camera. Is there any application or piece of software which will let me switch/choose between either the video camera or the isight.

Indeed, by simply unplugging the firewire cable from the video camera, the isight is instantly recognized and works fine. Although this is the obvious solution, unfortunately it is not practical for me as I am in a wheelchair and do not have the full use of my arms. Because of this I am not able to simply plug and unplug.

I think I have covered the situation fairly well. If anyone has any solutions, tips or bright ideas
I would be most grateful.

Kind regards,

David O'Connor
