Using Canon pixma 4000 printer software and tiger

I have a pixma 4000 and system tiger 10.4.8. I have done all system upgrades but want to use the proprietory printer software because it keeps track of ink usage and because it prints in gray scale easily thus saving ink. I downloaded and installed new drivers but nothing changed. Can anyone give me step by step instructions?

You have not stated a problem. What do you mean by "nothing changed"?

Um I have TWO Canon printers (the s500 and Pixma iP5200R). Using the software really brainless. to access the printer driver open /Applications/Utilties/Printer Setup Utility. The printer should be there is you installed the correct drivers and have the printer plugged in plus turned on. If the printer is there, highlight the printer and select the item "Utility". Follow the next logical computer steps to do what you want to do.
