MacBook Pro DL DVI out - split-able?

i'm contemplating the MacBook Pro to replace my dual G5 eventiually. the only problem is that i've got very used to my two 20 widesreen monitors, and i wouldn't want to use the screen on the mbp too much. i would use it lid closed most of the time.

my question is, since they have Dual Link DVI as standard now, could i split the DL-DVI into two seperate dvi signals? could i run both my standard dvi 1680x1050 monitors off that plug, and use them as seperate monitors? i know the graphics card could keep up with amount of data, but is there a hardware solution to split the signal successfully?
