Question CD Cleaner is it safe for my Mac Mini?

Hello, my mac mini is a year old now. My applecare just got expired last Jan 19. Too bad

My superdrive is not working well on burning DVDs. I usually use one brand (iomega) never had any problems for that whole year not until today. I tried 10 different dvdr medias & tried at lowest Speed. no success at all

It reads CD/DVD just fine, the problem is while on burning

I usually get this error on toast on start of the burning process.

" Sense Key= MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code =0x11
UNRECOVERED READ ERROR "

and this

" Sense Key= MEDIUM ERROR
Sense Code =0x73, 0x03"

burning on native mac OS i get this

(error code 0x8002006D)

Is it a dirty lens? badly need your opinion.
is it safe to use normal CD/DVD cleaner?
or let the Apple Center do it?

Apple recommends against a CD/DVD laser lens cleaners for
slot-loading drives.

That said, your drive is going dixie anyway, so what more harm
could a lens cleaner do? And it might well help. I suggest the one
from radio shack. It has short bristles.
