hp laserjet 3330 set up problems

i have a new mac book pro (a yr old) and never had a problem with using my hp laserjet 3330 all-in-one printer/scanner/fax with it. until i synced my computer. then it asked me to go thru a manual set up again. i answered the questions and hit the finish button, and the rainbow wheel kept spinning for a very long time ... and my computer got very hot. i tried this on several different occasions but it still won't complete the set up. what's the deal?
