Help! Toast 6.0.7 won't see 16x DVD+R setting

I bought a DVD burner which will write up to 16X. When I boot Toast 6.0.7, it'll only burn up to 12X on a Verbatim 16x DVD+R disc. Does anyone know why I can't get it to go to a 16x burning setting?

Thank you
Dean

DeltaMac will become famous soon enough
Perhaps the burner doesn't feel like burning that fast?
The speed you get is determined by the burner you use (16X max), the software you are using (variable), and the media that you use (16X max), and a (calculated/perceived) interpolation of the combination. The main part that you CAN control is the media. Try a DVD-R, same brand 16X; Try a different brand with 16X advertised, both DVD-R and DVD+R. This is assuming your burner can use either. The end result will be a calculated max available burn speed that could vary from disk to disk.
Remember the Max part? That means, from a technical point, that you can achieve 16X if all parts work together. Occasionally, you could see calculated max speeds higher than 16X, so experiment a little with a variety of media. It's part of the joy of burning!

If I were you I would go to a web site called Accelerate Your Mac and go to their hardware search lasso and plug in your computer information. Then read all peoples trials and hacks to see if that drive can do 16x on an OS X machine. These articles do point to ways to get OS X to burn at 16x.

DeltaMac & Satcomer,

Thanks for your input. I just realized that I may be ahead of the game. Even at 12X, I burned 4.7GB, and it only took 4 minutes. According to the info on line, it should have taken 7 minutes.
