| Adding a third Hard Drive.....Newby Ques. I have already installed a 200 gig drive in with the existing 80 gig, plus have added a SONNET Tempo ATA card to handle the bigger drive. Is it possible to plug a new larger drive (120-300gig) on to the Sonnet Card and put the existing 80 gig back on the original card to gain a 3rd drive? or is there something else I need to do? Thanks in Advance. Sorry for the newby Ques. just better with programs then hardware. ![]() |

| Yep, you can do that, or you can connect all three hard drives to the Sonnet controller for maximum performance (you may need to purchase an inexpensive UltraATA ribbon cable to do so, unless you've got another one). That's the way I've got it hooked up in my computer -- Sonnet Tempo ATA/100 PCI card running three hard drives, two on one ribbon and one on the other.

| Kernel Panic with Sonnet Tempo ATA-133 PCI card and Tiger Hey guys, I have the Sonnet Tempo ATA-133 PCI card and it's been causing me kernel panics since upgrading to Tiger 10.4. It seems to happen when I wake the computer out of deep sleep. By the way, Tiger 10.4 is running on one of the drives (160 GB Western Digital) this is connected onto the Sonnet card. Here's the panic.log : Mon May 2 19:42:51 2005 panic(cpu 0 caller 0x000A8B80): Uncorrectable machine check: pc = 00000000008C63E8, msr = 0000000000149030, dsisr = 42000000, dar = 00000000E00FF000 AsyncSrc = 0000000000000000, CoreFIR = 0000000000000000 L2FIR = 0000000000000000, BusFir = 0000000000000000 Latest stack backtrace for cpu 0: Backtrace: 0x00095564 0x00095A7C 0x00026838 0x000A8B80 0x000A7E10 0x000AB880 Proceeding back via exception chain: Exception state (sv=0x38ADDA00) PC=0x008C63E8; MSR=0x00149030; DAR=0xE00FF000; DSISR=0x42000000; LR=0x002CDC8C; R1=0x21F03D80; XCP=0x00000008 (0x200 - Machine check) Backtrace: 0x00000000 0x002CDC8C 0x002CCB54 0x000A9654 Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies): com.firmtek.driver.UltraTek133P_48(3.0)@0x8c0000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(1.6)@0x477000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOATAFamily(1.6.0f2)@0x507000 Exception state (sv=0x37A80500) PC=0x00000000; MSR=0x0000D030; DAR=0x00000000; DSISR=0x00000000; LR=0x00000000; R1=0x00000000; XCP=0x00000000 (Unknown) Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 8.0.0: Sat Mar 26 14:15:22 PST 2005; root:xnu-792.obj~1/RELEASE_PPC ********* Tue May 3 20:19:02 2005 panic(cpu 0 caller 0x000A8B80): Uncorrectable machine check: pc = 00000000005AA11C, msr = 0000000000149030, dsisr = 42000000, dar = 00000000F0100FD0 AsyncSrc = 0000000000000000, CoreFIR = 0000000000000000 L2FIR = 0000000000000000, BusFir = 0000000000000000 Latest stack backtrace for cpu 0: Backtrace: 0x00095564 0x00095A7C 0x00026838 0x000A8B80 0x000A7E10 0x000AB880 Proceeding back via exception chain: Exception state (sv=0x3CA82780) PC=0x005AA11C; MSR=0x00149030; DAR=0xF0100FD0; DSISR=0x42000000; LR=0x005AA5C8; R1=0x21ED2C70; XCP=0x00000008 (0x200 - Machine check) Backtrace: 0x005A58D4 0x005A9CA4 0x005A6FA0 0x005A71D4 0x005A5E68 0x005A8F68 0x005A8EDC 0x002CE344 0x005A8E78 0x005A46A0 0x00519ECC 0x0051C360 0x0051E3F8 0x004393A8 0x0043C02C 0x0043F2F0 0x0043E474 0x0043AE6C 0x0043AA3C 0x00444C34 0x0044A884 0x00444C34 0x00447F6C 0x00446E98 0x00107E6C 0x000D472C 0x000FD688 0x000DA5C0 0x000DF100 0x000DED40 0x000DE994 0x0021FA78 backtrace continues...
