[HOWTO] Burn Multiple times to the same CD

When you click the Burn button, a dialog will appear asking to insert a disc. Do so, and then click once the blue downward-facing triangle on the right side of this dialog to show more options. Click on the checkbox for Leave disc appendable, then click the Burn button. Your data will now be written to that CD. To add more files later, just insert that same CD and then you’ll use this same process all over again, but when you get to that final burn dialog, the button won’t say “Burn” this time, instead it will say “Append” because you’re adding these files to the same disc. By the way, don’t forget to remove the files you already burned to this disc from your “burn baby burn!” folder (and the DMG file it creates) before you make your next disc image.

Does this work while burning audio CDs? (in audio format, not mp3)

With Toast one can make multiple burns to a CD. If the Mac data format is chosen each burn session appears as a separate volume on the CD. If the ISO 9660 format is used each session can be appended to the previous session using the CD-ROM XA setting. If the folder structure is unchanged files can be added to existing folders and Toast will burn only the new or changed files and all the folders and files will appear as one volume. A bonus is that ISO 9660 is cross-platform compatible. Full instructions are given in Toast. Can't be used to add to audio (aiff) CDs, but mp3 files can be added.

Tip: If filling an ISO 9660 CD with JPEG images for playing on a set-top DVD/CD player that plays JPEG images make sure that "Use Apple Extensions" is not/not selected in the settings for the CD. The set-top DVD/CD player interprets any resource fork of an Apple Macintosh file as another image file but cannot open it.
