iPhone contract question.

Well, I'm on a drummer forum and someone asked about the iPhone and said he was too lazy to register here, so I'm asking his question for him:

Ok...
The iphone is pretty much amazing to me. The phone I'm currently using is crap, my ipod was run over today, and plus it's super shiny.
I must have it.

I do have cingular, but rumor has it that you HAVE to sign a two-year contract which is sort of not and option.

I have a job, so money isn't an issue.

But does anyone know if that's true?
Or can I just buy one and stick my sim card in it?

We won't really know for a couple of months which plans and options will be available. Until then, I would sign-up on the following address to receive updates.

he will probably just have to extend his contract for two more years to get it at 499.

he probably will be able to buy the phone without extending his contract... but the price COULD be about two hundred dollars higher.

that has been my experience when purchasing phones and dealing with my cell phone provider. they charge you so much for a phone, then if you sign an extention they give you an instant rebate.
