Handbrake Lite Questions

I use handbrake lite to convert dvds over into my ipod mp4 format, i love it- it works great. Unfortunately I am an avid fan of foreign film, how do I convert subtitled movie over to my ipod, I try, but the subtitles never show. any tips, thanks.
