Question windows logon on OS X Server

What is the secret to getting a Windows XP machine to log in to OS X Server? The Windows service is going, and the Windows machine can see the OS X Server. But any login attempt is treated as though the user doesn't exist. There's no problem logging in from a Mac.

Captain Code will become famous soon enough
I'm having the same problem.

The XP machine wants to login using host\user instead of just user.
