dvd player equalizer

hi,
is there anyway of using the itunes equalizer in dvd player as some of my films are a little quiet and i wouldn't mind cranking up the sound a little with the preamp and i don't have any extenal speakers(i'm travelling around and can't carry any)

i'm running 10.3 on a 12" powerbook
