Disabling live resize in QuickTime 7 and DVD Player

Okay, ever since Tiger this live resizing of windows in QuickTime 7 and DVD Player bugs the crap out of me.

I only have a 800MHz G4, so as you can imagine live resizing while playing a movie is absolutely terrible. Especially with DVDs.

So my question is this: how the hell can I turn it off? Obviously there isn't a preference for it, but is there anything I can do?

I suggest pausing it, then resizing it. Might help. Dunno about disabling live though.
