Isync 2.1 Install Problem + Cups Crash

This is on a PowerBook G4 running 10.4.2 (just installed).

Before the 10.4.2 update I tried to install iSync 2.1. It was a completely normal update, no different to any previous times. However, it reported that it failed to complete owing to "an error" which was unspecified and I could not see anything obvious in the install log.

After the reboot, all but one of my menu items had disappeared i.e. no isnyc icon, time, Intego, bluetooth or wireless icons.

After delving around a bit I found a crash report in the log files:

I tried listing the directory and found the response time for this abnormally slow. The Versions directory was not visible. However, I could cd to the Versions directory. Do I need to force an fsck?
