My Ical 2.0 Crashes

[Mark1901]

I have a G4 Ibook and recently upgraded to Tiger. Everytime I start ICAL it crashes within 10 seconds. I tried reinstalling it several times.

Did you ever get a resolution to this problem? I have the same problem ever since I upgraded to Tiger (and I went directly to version 10.4.3). I tried trashing the following files with no improvement: under Application support I trashed iCal folder, under ~Library I trashed com.apple.ical... files. iCal still won't run for more than 10 seconds at most.

Try trashing the iCal preference file - 'com.apple.ical.plist'
located here;

User>Library>Preferences

If that doesn't help, look in these folders;

Library>InputManagers>SIMBL

Library>Application Support>SIMBL

If there's anything in those SIMBL flders, move to the Desktop, restart and try iCal.

Thanks for your help, but iCal still won't run.
I did trash the iCal preference file you mentioned (there was also com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist that I trashed) and under Application Support I trashed the iCal folder.
There are no files on my computer called SIMBL and no folder called InputManagers. Any other thoughts?

In iSync, disable "Enable syncing on this computer" and then try iCal.

OMG! Thank you. Thank you. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaank you! When I diabled "Enable syncing on this computer" as you suggested, after living a month without iCal, it no longer crashes. What was that all about? This may be obvious, but I am not sure how to retrieve all my calendar info (I do have backups, but after a month, I'm afraid that they will all be empty after deleting the iCal folder so many times).

The above help is appreciated - however, with syncing disabled, I have a very limited iCal (the whole idea was to sync with my Palm). I've been to the Mac Genius bar, and they suggested an Archive & Reinstall - I did it but that did not fix the problem. Any other thoughts?

I swear the Genius Bar hiring qualifications involve a 4th Grade Math Test and a game of Candyland.

The unfortuante problem here is, that iCal won't sync to your Palm (or at least not that I've ever been able to make happen). Having syncing enabled only enables .mac syncing.

It uses it's own file system and protocals that Palm has yet to provide compatibility with. Until they do so, I'm afraid you have to use Palm's goofy little calendar program that came with your Palm for the time being.

Edit: Well wouldn't ya know it I just found this for syncing Address book and iCal to your Palm.

2nd Edit: I should really do my research before I go shooting my mouth off and "helping". Tiger supports Palm syncing (supposedly), otherwise you have to install Palm's iSync Conduit to make it work.
