address book crash: reinstalling with Pacifist don't work

my address book app didn't work (perpetual spinning wheel) so i tried reinstalling using pacifist.

from the orignal OS X installation DVD I choose the OSInstall.pkg/Essentials.pkg/Applications.pkg/addressbook.app

then i choose install in the applications folder.
Installation went fine but now the app doesn't even want to start up so now my address book app is definetely dead.

I killed the prefs and deleted data files in user/library/application support/address book

Anyone got a clue how to fix my address book app?

cheers

Did you run 'Disk Utility's ('/Applications/Utilities/') 'Repair Disk Permisssions' on your boot drive after re-installing 'Address Book'? If not, do so - and report your results.
