Smartdisk Vst Firewire Portable Cd-r/w Drive

I have upgraded to Panther from system 9 and no longer can burn anything to cd using the above. i get error messages when i try to work via disk burner, saying it cant be used in classic. if i quit classic, it opens anyhow and i get the same message. toast lite doesnt seem to work with the drive at all, either .

when i put a blank cd in the drive, nothing shows up on the desktop and after a few seconds the drive opens and turns itself off.

in fact i cant open disk burner at all anymore, nor toast.

everything used to work perfectly, all the time, flawlessly.

help please, i burn data cds all the time for work and really am going nuts here!
