Itunes And Quicktime Will Not Respond

Itunes 4.9 and Qucktime 6.5.2 will not respond since I upgraded from OS 10.3.4 to 10.3.9.

I activate them and the icon bounces a couple of times, then nothing. In attempting to play any mp3, cd file or any QT movie, the "wheel of death" spins and nothing happens in iTunes or QT.

I do have ProTools LE 6.4 and some forums have said you can de-activate itunes and QT in the Digidesign CoreAudio Setup, which I have done, but they still do not work even when that has been done.

I would love to "backtrack" downgrade back to 10.3.4, but am not sure how to do that, or whether that is the proper step at this point.

Thanks so much for any help!
