.dmg files NOT opening! Help!

Question:
Any downloaded .dmg file NOT opening (mounting)
HELP!

Since I have installed Tiger (storebought)...a few noticable probs... the big one though: I cannot download any file that ends with .dmg
I get this after double clicking:
"The following Disk images failed to mount"
"device not configured"

PLEASE help me!

Welcome to the forum joonyer.
Which os are you using? Did you repair disk permissions? Does Disk Utility open properly? And how about mounting a dmg file from other apps such as toast for example (if available)?

OSX Tiger 10.4.2 (latest)
800 MHz Power PC G4
768 MB SDRAM
I have tried repair permissions...I have tried Disk Warrior...I have tried re-installing Disc Mount Image App again....nuthin. I even tried yelling at the neighbor's cat. Nuthin.

I've seen this problem posts on several boards including Apple's. The only solution I've seen, is to reinstall 10.4.
