.hotfiles.btree Unable to Backup

I could not figure out why no dvd backup program would work until I tried Toast 7 TITANIUM.

No other program displayed an error message.

Toast had a problem with many files and .hotfiles.btree .

The other files had been downloaded by me so I erased them one at a time each time wasting a dvd. I had told Toast to test and not to write a disc but each dvd was unusable thereafter.

Now it errs on this file that I did not download. Therefor I do not know the necessity of this file. I do not know if I may safely erase this file!

Since it only finds errors one at a time there may be many more errors and wasted discs.
