Angry mactheripper, popcorn, but powerbook can't read?

hi. so i burned about 4 movies of mine so that i could bring the copies to school and leave the originals at home for my family to view.
i used mac the ripper first and then burned the video_ts folders using popcorn (which compressed the folders to fit onto a 4.7GB DVD-RW) without any errors or trouble. maybe it's important to say here that i used an external dvd-burner (lacie) because my powerbook doesnt have a superdrive.
the problem is, when i try to play this dvd on either my powerbook drive or my external dvd drive, the powerbook won't recognize the file and just ejects the disc. i don't know why it keeps doing this.
any suggestions?

p.s. i'm on a powerbook g4 runing jaguar 10.2.8

After PopCorn burned the disc, did you let it verify the burn?

You really should.

yes, i did!
i followed all the instructions on how to burn a dvd, and it
all went smoothly, but my computer just won't read the dvd.

this is just a theory... but does the fact that i used a blank DVD-RW have anything to do with this? my powerbook is the old model (867MHz) that I bought 2.5 years ago. maybe it doesn't read that type of disc? okay, i might be making that up. any help is greatly appreciated
