Why the volume key lag in Jaguar?

Ever since I got Jaguar I've noticed that it often takes around 5 seconds for the volume to change after pressing one of the volume keys. After that the volume keys work instantly for a while but then it goes back again. Never had this problem with 10.1.

I've reinstalled the OS a couple times and even got my PB replaced (after dropping it!) since getting Jaguar and always the same problem.

Anybody else have this problem?

i don't have that, but something else:

when you press the volume UP button constantly it will raise very "freaky" to the max. It raises to the max and then suddenly it goes back to the minimum and then again to the max and to then the average, minimum, max, average, min and finally it stops at MAX. Really weird things!

It's your amount of RAM. The same thing happend to me when I had 128MB. now I have 384MB and it comes up right when u hit the button. X.2 needs more RAM then X.1. Don't ask my why, it just runs much better with more RAM

Happened to me a few times, every now and then it'll happen again but it's very rare.
It seemed to start after the 10.2.2 Carbon Sound Manager update, but it's so rare that it doesn't bother me at all.

I have 512MBs of RAM on my system...

different controls

I had the following problem for some time (and I guess that RAM is not the reason), but it dissapeared when I installed the Carbon Sound Manager via SU.

When I tried to adjust the volume with the keyboard, I get to see the -how do you call that-pop-up that the volume is changing, but the volume itself didn't change. I could however adjust the volume with the slide bar in the menu bar...

I am still wondering what's the reason for this, I am wondering if playing with Audio Hijack could have caused this, or if it is just Jaguar

edit: -> I just want to indicate that I had this problem on my G4 -1Gb RAM...

Well, I don't think it's a memory problem since I have 1 GB of ram in my PB. Unless maybe if I have bad ram or something, but I haven't noticed anything else really weird.

senne, you're problem sounds really weird! You should get a screenshot movie with Snapz Pro X (if you have it) and post it or something!

Interesting that the Carbon Sound Manager update seems to have caused the problem for Tormente, fixed the problem for aaike and done nothing for me! At least we know that iMac's, PowerMac's & PowerBook's all have this problem in one form or another.

Nobody ever had this problem in 10.1 though, right?
