Acrobat PDF file Format is having difficulties. There was a Macintosh system error(-36

Hello

I have a serious problem with an illustrator file. I am running OS 10.3.9 and Illustrator 10.0.3. I was working with a large file 175 mb in disk and I tried to save the most recent modifications because Illustrator was crashing very frequently. When I save it, it took for ever and I got a message of a mac error... etc... so, I continued working for a little bit and the program crashed again. I open illustrator again and tryied to open the file and I am getting the following message

"Acrobat PDF file Format is having difficulties. There was a Macintosh system error (-36)".

so I can not open the file. I shot down the computer and started again but I got the same message.
I tried to make a back up copy but doesn't allow me to do so and I can not copy it to any other external hard drive, etc.

What should I do? any idea how to go around this?

thanks a lot

Daniel

Try Mac HelpMate

My utility, Mac HelpMate has a feature that allows you to look up system errors. -36 is an I/O file system error. Repair permissions, and restart your computer, that should fix it if it isn't a very serious issue.
