mail/address book corruption/data loss

when I loaded my email today it marked many messages as unread that were read which was strange. I then noticed that all of my records in my address book were gone. Other aps seem ok. I restarted and now mail says I have no accounts and address book is also blank.

Not sure how to recover lost data. I looked in a library file - found a few- and seemed to have something but not sure how to access it. selecting just brought up mail saying i had no accounts.

UPDATE: I believe the culprit was/is "filevault" and am working on recovering data. I found info on filevault corrupting 10.3, which I am on and I realized problem appeared shortyly after filevault had a problem recovering disk space.
