Improper display of eps files in mail

I'm running OS X 10.2 on a powerbook and I'm having trouble with Illustrator eps files displaying properly in mail. All I get is a large box with an X through it. I believe that mail thinks that the files are Quark files since my preview box shows it as a quark file. Quark was the first software that I installed and I expected the problem to solve itself once I installed Creative Suite (Illustrator) but it still isn't working. I've tried to find the default settings for displays in mail but I can't find anything in mail or in the general controls. I need to see the eps files so that I can make sure I'm sending out the proper artwork to clients!
Thanks

Laura,

Why do you expect .epsf files to display in Mail? This email app uses QuickTime to display various audio, video, and still image formats. However, .epsf is not one of the formats supported by QuickTime.

Sorry, I should have explained that the eps files I'm not seeing properly are ones that I'm attaching. I used to use Eudora and whenever I attached an eps (illustrator or Freehand) file to an outgoing message in that program I would see the eps image displayed in the body of the email message. Now, with mail, all I'm seeing is a large block with an X through it.

Laura,

You can change the default application for .eps files or for any other files at any time. Just do File > Get Info on one of your files. Use the Open with: pop-up menu to change the default application to whatever you want.
