No audio in garageband 2

Pretty simple problem really, no sound and i don't know why.
i open up garageband and pull up the on-screen keyboard, hit a few notes and nothing happenes, i have recorded and imported to itunes and it will play, i have used garageband fine before, all volume settings are up.

Do you have a USB headset/USB speakers/USB sound device? That could be the issue with normal system sounds going to the regular speakers and GB going to a USB audio device. It's in the preferences when you open up GB.
Also, are you running Audio Hijack Pro? If so, check the settings on that as well.

It could be a core audio issue. Are you using an external audio interface or Apples built-in interface?

Im a logic pro user and have not used garage band but id hazard a guess that you can select your output device in the audio preferences section of the program. There will probably be a drop down menu relating to the core audio output. Check this corresponds to your desired output as ive found some software updates to change certain settings.
