iCal SCheduling Problem

I have a number of tasks that are scheduled to run on a regular basis in iCal. They are part of a Calendar named Software Tasks reserved for that purpose. Yesterday, I unchecked that calendar to make my regular events more readable; none of the scheduled software tasks ran last night.

Can anyone confirm that schjeduled tasks must be actually displayed on the calendar in order for them to be executed correctly?
