itunes and quicktime

For some reason I cant get ITunes and quicktime to work. I lost all of my mp3s and when I try to open the programs nothing happens except for a bouncing icon for 5 seconds. I have wiped my system clean of any itunes or quicktime and reinstalled. Nothing seems to work.

MisterMe will become famous soon enough
You can't just lose your MP3's. They are still on your hard drive. How it would be really really helpful if you wourld tell us the following:
Which model computer?
Which version MacOS X?
Which version QuickTime?
Which verson iTunes?

you might want to delete the preferences file for itunes too id you want to flush it off the system and start fresh.

The icon bouncing tends to mean its looking for something it cant find, and eventually times out. Go delete the pref file and give it another shot.
