Shared Library Errors- Please Save my Sanity!

Hi all,

This is urgent....help save my sanity -dubious to start with! but...
Ok am using Laptop G4 MAC OS 10.2.8 and everything was working fine until the mac crashed and when I logged back on my Adobe Creative Suite (every application didnt work) I would get an error saying The application .....illustrator/photoshop etc may not be launched because of a shared library error "illustrator>Carbon Lib> <CMF Priv_ATS<
i sought help as I thought only Adobe was effected so was told to remove all adobe apps/and related files...then I find out that a non Adobe application had the same error.
I go to reinstall Adobe Creative Suite on the mac and get this error off the CD!

"Application Install Abobe Creative Suite could not be launched shared library error. 0 <Base Installer Carbon>Carbon Lib><CFMPriv_ATS><>"

DOES THIS MEAN ANYTHING TO ANYONE?
Can anyone save my dubious sanity?
Also the system that came with the comp was 10.2.3 (and I've updated since to get to 10.2.8) But am loath to go backwards and reinstall that as I would then have to go and get the updates again (and I am still on dial up- blah) or would going and buying Tiger be better?

I just wanted a simple solution....hahahahahah
