Mac fonts

I found some nice fonts I want to install - they are now
downloaded to my desktop --

I have a G3 - Mac osx 10.3.2--

what file do I use to open them up with- msg asks me

where do I store them

turns out i think I am suppossed to have a folder called
the --Font book --but I can't locate it.

pls help - these were retrieved from www.dafonts.com

Open "Font Book" in your /Applications folder, then add them there -- that's Apple's built-in solution, however...

...I would recommend a better font management solution: LinoType FontExplorer X, available here:

FontExplorer rocks, it's free and it's now in a non-beta version!

Load your fonts in a MYFONTS folder, or something like that, in the first layer of your hard drive directory. Not in Library/Fonts. Then your computer isn't loading all your fonts at all times.

Or, to go the simple route, move them to your Users/[your name]/Library/Fonts/ folder and restart the programs you want to use them in.
