Question Can't print PDF's from Acrobat Pro or Reader

I'm running OS 10.3.9 and an HP Deskjet 6840 printer. I can print anything and everything from Word, Quark, Excel, whatever - but I cannot print PDF's direct from Acrobat - neither Acrobat 6.0 Pro or Reader 7.0.5. They seem to spool but then nothing happens.

I can ship the PDF into Photoshop and print fine from there, but what a labour that is.
