Entourage crashing when trying to change fonts

I have a client who uses Entourage on a daily basis.

She is very graphically inclined and uses HTML mail exclusively. In the past few days, when she attempts to change the font color, Entourage just vanishes with no error message.

I have:

1. Verified the Entourage database
2. Cleaned out 2 bad fonts from Font Book
3. Made sure Office 04 has all service packs

Any assistance is appreciated in advance!

I would look at removing all extra fonts to see if the problem goes away. Then encourage the user to use some font management software like Extensis Fusion (formerly Suitcase).

Fonts corruption & conflicts are the number one problem I encounter with graphic designers experiencing weird behaviors and/or instability. Someone that uses extra fonts on a regular basis should ALWAYS be using a font management tool for a better computing experience. Suitcase can auto-activate needed fonts when a document is opened and then turn the fonts back off when the document is closed. This ensures that only the fonts being used in the document are active while the doc is open.

Simply put, the more fonts on, the more likely there are to be problems.

Question

Is this on an Intel Mac? I have no problems with this on a G4 with Entourage (latest patch), but have the same issue as you when on an Intel iMac (same version of Entourage).
Fonts are 'au naturale', and haven't yet traced it - but currently thinking it's a PPC vs Intel problem, and if so, is unlikely to go away with my intervention

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Chris, how would I go about eliminating all "extra" fonts? Is there a resource or list I can use to help me determine which fonts I should nuke?

Thanks in advance!
