| I posted this to two other forums nobody helping just reading post. Now I'm trying this forum for help. This is how my post is. I couldn't find an answer to my problem. But I found an answer close to mine said (10.4.4 broke Quartz Extreme) (On Apple Support). There system profiler says Quartz not supported. I checked mine says the same thing now. The answer was to delete two files from system library (Extension.kextcache and Extension.mkext) I did that and restarted worked fine, turn computer back on today back to the same problem. I could use some HELP. This is my problem. I don't remember when this started but it's been months. It's my screen savers I have regular savers and Quartz savers and Quartz saver I made when I got Tiger. Went to change saver one day and all my Quartz savers were missing some savers that were not Quartz and the screen saver called my computer name has a blue file folder. I went thought the savers found some that made System Preference crash though them out still did not help, checked saver folder all there. I restarted computer some times were there, some times not might have to restart few more times to work. When I turn computer on next day some times would be all back some times not. Have had regular screen saver missing but when screen saver kicked in after some time it work but not in list. Checked folder again the saver were missing from folder too this time. I don't want to have to restart my computer each time I want to use those savers. Some time have to keep started over and over again in a roll to get to work don't think thats very good for my computer. I also did repair permission that didn't help. Don't know what to try next. Can anybody help. PowerPc G4 (17 Flat Panel) Mac OS X (10.4.7) 1.25 GHZ, 768MB Ram, iPod Photo 60 GB |

| Have you tried creating a new user account and logging in as that? I'm wondering if maybe the problem is relegated to the user account and not the system as a whole. Have you also tried the usual stuff, like repairing permissions and performing a Repair Disk from Disk Utility (the latter needs to be done while booted from the installation discs and selecting to run Disk Utility from the menu)? You can also try and run OnyX to see if that will fix anything.

| I have two other user accounts, one is about a couple of months old. The problems on all accounts. I have tried the usual stuff. I don't think I know anything about Onyx it cleans caches? I have read some post that have warned about using Onyx said not to use, try something else. I have used cocktail, But now I use MainMenu to run somethings, like clean caches, maintenance scripts so on. |

| I haven't had any issues with OnyX. The only thing that I would think that might cause issues is if you have it repair permissions. Personally, I think it's probably better to repair permissions through Disk Utility. But for everything else it should be fine.

| I seen a screenshot of OnyX and it does pretty much what MainMenu does and that didn't change anything. Still have the problem. |

| I tried OnyX. I don't know what it was suppose to do or what to try I did most everything except repair permissions, I use Apples and I didn't use the things it said that tiger does. It did not Help. Same thing! Guess when I what to use Quart Screensaver or work I Quarts program Ill have to restart my machine anywhere from 2 to 4 times. I did not realize I did not have it say it's an iMac computer. |
