"subscribe to address book" error

"subscribe to address book" error

Macbook pro intel
I can't subscribe to my wife's address book anymore. When I enter a mac.com address, the address book bugs with the apple wheel turning endlessly.
But my wife, on her macbook CAN subscribe to my address book.
we are both .mac member of course
why???
