HP laserjet 2100 driver

Hi there

bought another (have one already) HP laserjet2100 with 600N network card exactly the same as an old one I had which works fine when connected to tiger macbook pro intel and old G4 with 9.2.2

However when put new printer into ethernet network at first could not see printer but this was sorted using HP Direct and assigning IP adress on Intel mac.

Howver when I print I get code on first page followed by masses of blank pages.

To solve this I downloaded ghost and gimp printers and managed to get it to print.However quality is really poor when compared to old printes fonts are jagged etc. Any ideas to get it up to speed with exactly same machine?

Plus os 9.2 machines cannot see printer at all. All help appreciated

Hello, all

My Mac Pro recognizes my HP 2100 printer in the que, and yet it just prints out one page of jiberish, followed by multiple blank pages...
I've tried installing the drivers from HP.com... Nothing works!
Any help greatly appreciated.

(Also, I'm using a parallel to USB adaptor).

I am having the EXACT same problem. I have tried various old Gimp drivers, a (supposed) USB optimizer utility, and nothing has worked. I've found this problem elsewhere on the internet but thus far no solution has solved my problem.

This is the "gibberish" that precedes the blank pages:

That solved the problem for me. You might want to try it yourself and post your results here as well.

I tried those solutions with out success.

I had a wireless parrallel Dlink converter attached to my hp 2100. When I used boot camp and configured it through windows Xp it worked. When I used Mac OSX I recieved the same as listed above. It would write code then spew out 15 pages. I tried the above fixes with limited response. Nothing allowed all programs to work.

I downloaded Guten print 5.0 from GIMP Print and restarted my computer. I added a new printer after restart and chose the HP 2100 with CUPs. It seems to work flawlessly. Huge relief.
