Vanished Quicktime files

I had a whole lot of Quicktime Pro video files that have disappeared(about 1.5Gb) I had them in a temporary items folder adding to them on a weekly basis.

I booted my Mac yesterday, it started up in Classic then when I changed the start up disk and re-booted they were gone....all of them. It also says I have the same amount of disk space left.

I've searched everywhere to no avail....where have they gone??
