Roxio Popcorn users

Hey guys,

I need a little help since I am a new Macbook Pro user. For DVD burning, I love using Roxio's Popcorn, but I can not seem to customize the movies my way before I compress them. I want to burn the movies and get rid off all the extra's but still keep the menu for navigation. I can't seem to do that with either Popcorn or DVD2onex. In Popcorn, whenever I go to customize setting and delete any extra trailers from the DVD, the menu seems to disappear. Is there any way to take out the extra's and keep only the movies with menu ? I know in PC, there is a software call VOB blanker does this, but I can't find any similar software like that for intel mac.

Thanks,

Sadly, using Popcorn or Toast, or most other apps, you really only get two choices: movie only, or full-disc copy. All the extras, or none at all.

You can get around this by extracting each of the movies / episodes on a DVD to MP4 format, then make your own new menu in Toast Titanium - or at a pinch iDVD. However, this process is just too plain fiddly to be bothered with for most people.

I only did this once for a TV-show DVD I had which took FIVE MINUTES of copyright warnings and distributor logos before you get to the main menu. On selecting an episode, you got over a minute of rubbish before the episode would start playing. I honestly don't know what the DVD distributors are thinking, but they *forced* me to re-make that DVD. I'm not happy about being treated like a criminal for 7 minutes just to watch a 23 minute show, and only because I actually bought it legitimately!

For most cases like this, when ripping the disc in MacTheRipper, I disable the UOPs (User Operation Prohibitions - yuck) which keeps ALL the trailers and copyright warnings, but at least I'm able to fast-forward through them.

Hi !
Is my first time here.
I've a trouble with popcorn or toast. Both, when i'm trying to burn, the application quit unexpectedly, and other applications are not affected. I'm using tiger. Still happens the same when I drag a folder in t copy.
You know how to solve this problem?

Thanks
Chojin

I haven't seen it happen before, but my first step would be:
- Delete Popcorn & Toast from your Applications folder.
- Remove everything starting with "com.roxio..." from your (home)/Library/Preferences.
- Remove the "Roxio" folder from (home)/Library/Application Support
- Reboot the machine, then ...
- Reinstall Toast & Popcorn, reboot one more time, and test it out.
