eMac Preforming Horribly

I really do apologize if this is in the wrong spot, but I'm confused as to where it belongs.

My eMac is preforming horribly. I tried deleting what had to be over 150 files, and I don't know what to do. If I knew where to find the figgin' phone support on the Mac site, I would not be here, but I don't know what to do.

On my computer:
-Two things can not happend at once, or else everything freezes. Even the cursor. Say I'm on MSN, the internet, and I'm downloading something, like a game. While the game is downloading, an instant message window pops up from a friend. My computer freezes.

-Three programs can not be running at the same time, or else everything freezes. My computer can't seem to stay normal for more than half an hour, no matter what.

-A program I use frequently called Flash 8 from Macromedia(Now Adobe) won't install. I double click the dmg. file, and I click on the icon in the new window. I type in the password, then go through the process. But when I click "Install" on the next to last stage, it gets to the loading bar and freezes. I have to right click the icon on the Dock and go to "Force Quit" 3 times for it to terminate its action.

-The "Restart" and "Shut Down" option is no longer useful. It freezes when I go to the blue apple>Shut Down or Restart. It's really annoying.

If I want the computer to shut down, I have to flick the switch off and on on the powerstrip that the computer is plugged into. The same goes for whenever the computer freezes.

This is something I need to fix. Please, help.

It could be that your system is corrupted. A clean install would be best, archive install would be good too. You may also want to try repairing permissions & disk from disk utility, but it probably won't help much.

Your eMac may qualify

You should provide information about how much memory you have installed in your eMac, also the version of OS X that you are running, along with the processor speed.
An eMac with only 128MB of memory (quite common), will really struggle with OS X. If your hard drive is almost filled (less than 1GB of free space, for example) will also tend to have the problems that you mention. Most who post here agree that OS X needs some space to work, perhaps 10-15% free space would be a good amount to maintain.
If your eMac has worked much better, until recently, you may have symptoms of hard drive failure.
