| Finder constantly restarting This started today when I noticed the Back/Forward and View Options on my Finder windows had squished together. I thought relaunching Finder via Force Quit would fix it. After that, Finder opens and closes itself, causing it to reopen. Basically, it restarts itself every other second. Whenever I try to click on it, sometimes, a Finder window pops up, looking like this: http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/1455/picture3ib1.png I checked Console, it said this: Code: Nov 12 00:08:17 Gina-Hansens-Computer crashdump[510]: Finder crashed Nov 12 00:08:18 Gina-Hansens-Computer crashdump[510]: crash report written to: /Users/ginahansen/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Finder.crash.log http://www.sendspace.com/file/sfupt6 My friend who uses a Mac told me to check Disk Utility and click Repair Disk Permission: http://www.sendspace.com/file/akguxv Then he told me to use Verify Disk: http://www.sendspace.com/file/pycncc Then he told me to put in my 10.4 installation disc, go into Disk Utility, and Repair Disk. It fixed the disk that shows up red in the Verify Disk file, but Finder continues to restart. I also made a new account for my Mac, and Finder wasn't constantly restarting. A Finder window did open, but the sidebar options were missing, even though I could click on them. Also, whenever I tried to open a folder that had been unzipped from the desktop, the Finder window would close itself. |

| Try trashing the Finder Preference file using Terminal; sudo rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist See if this helps.

| Finder stops the looping sometimes, allowing me to go to all other folders, except the home folder. I have come to the conclusion that there must be a hidden file inside of the home folder. I have unhidden all files via Tweak Freak, but it only shows the hidden files in Finder. Any way to show the hidden files in something like Path Finder? (Logging on to another user and accessing the home folder doesn't work, as Finder just closes itself.) Last edited by KnightofShadows; November 12th, 2006 at 02:00 PM. |

| You can view the files in your home directory by typing, in terminal; ls -all First, though, try what bobw suggested.

| An Archive and Install fixed it. Thanks for the help. |
